Media Requirements

Master Requirements

FP would like to receive your best available format. Please verify the format is without errors and/or viruses. Please verify the checklist is complete prior to sending.

Acceptable Formats

  • Tape
  • LTO
  • CDR
  • DVDR

Factory may be able to convert other formats to an acceptable format, but conversion charges will apply Standard 74 minutes, 650 MB. Two (2) copies are needed of each master.

Artwork Requirements

  • Artwork files must be layered, not flat
  • A PDF proof will be provided 2-3 business days after receipt of artwork
  • Do not send PDF or JPG files to the factory as they can't make changes to layout or text, which may be necessary to improve quality of print
  • Fonts must be identified
  • Specify any PMS colors that are to be used
  • The factory cannot accept RGB format because when converted to CMYK the colors will change
  • Templates for artwork creation can be provided — Ask your sales rep for more information
  • All Photoshop files should be saved at 300dpi for good print quality
  • Type should be set in Illustrator, Freehand or QuarkXPress, if possible, for crisp, clear text

  • Adobe Illustrator

Other Acceptable Formats

  • QuarkXPress
  • Freehand
  • CorelDRAW — PC artwork only (no MAC)

Type Size and Ruling

  • Minimum type size for positive printing is 6 pt.
  • Minimum type size for reverse and knockout printing is 12 pt.

Job Scheduling

  • Jobs will not be scheduled into production at the factory until all artwork (PDF proof) is approved.
  • Once the factory receives the approval of the PDF and the job is scheduled, the normal turn time is 7-10 working days depending on the specifics of the job as noted below.
  • Allow extra time for printed materials.

Turn Times

  • Normal turn time for jobs for bulk media only (CD-ROM, DVD-ROM) is 7 working days after art approval.
  • Normal turn time for jobs including print materials (jewel case inserts, tray cards, mailers, etc.) is 10 working days after art approval.
  • During the replication busy season from September through December, normal turn times may be extended.
  • Your sales rep will inform you of the turn time you expect if you place an order during this time period.

Disc Label/Print Surface Specifications

  • Maximum of six (6) colors.
  • 1 film for each color with PMS or Process Colors noted on each film. CMYK and white flood counts as 5 colors.
  • Any ink color from the Pantone Matching System (PMS) is available. (Note: light colors do not reproduce well on the metallic disc background).
  • 120 to 133 line screen.
  • If printing inside 46mm on hub, color may vary due to mirrored band and clear inner hub.
  • Stacking ring prevents printing from 35mm to 38mm.
  • Film cut size is 6½" x 6".

Print Material Film Specifications

  • Maximum of four (4) colors.
  • Printed materials are printed CMYK.
  • Jewel case inserts priced as 4/1 will print 4 colors (CMYK) on one side and black on the reverse side.
  • 150 line screen for all jobs.
  • Bleeds: All films must have 1/8" bleeds.
  • Format: All films must be supplied in printers' spreads
  • Trapping is .288mm from center

Required Ship Dates

If a specific ship date is required, please let us know the required date at the time the order is placed. We will confirm the date with the factory and let the customer know if the factory will be able to meet the deadline. Without a rush fee, the factory cannot guarantee turn time.

Overages

  • Quantity shipped from the factory on CD and DVD can range from ±5% of the quantity ordered printed material is ±10%.
  • Customers will be billed for any overages run at the factory up to 5% of the quantity ordered.
  • All orders are F.O.B Factory via UPS Ground unless quoted otherwise in writing or specified otherwise by the customer.

Cancellation Clause

After artwork has been approved and the replication job has been scheduled for production, any cancellation charges incurred are the responsibility of the customer and not the factory. This includes glass mastering and film charges incurred for jobs subsequently cancelled after art approval.

Please send Customer Replication Order Checklist (110K, PDF) along with the following items to your Account Support Representative.

When do you need these back at your location?

  • CD/DVD Master (Please include 2 copies of each Master)
  • CD/DVD Art Disc (Please include a copy of each label to be printed on separate discs)
  • Slipsheet, Jewel Case Insert or Wallet Art Disc
  • IRMA Replication Rights Form
  • DVD Source Master Form (if applicable)

NOTE: We cannot process your replication order until all of the above items are received. PDF proofs of all artwork will be sent for final approval approximately 2-3 business days after receipt of art. Normal turn time is 7-10 working days after art approval.
